     George Hershel Hamilton-Gordon was born on 16 May 1872.1 He was the son of General Hon. Sir Alexander Hamilton-Gordon and Caroline Emilia Mary Herschel.1 He married Mary Elizabeth Benwell, daughter of Samuel John Benwell, on 29 July 1918.1 He died on 15 May 1939 at age 66.1
     George Hershel Hamilton-Gordon gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Territorial Army Reserve.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Scottish Horse Yeomanry.1
