     Sir Lionel Phillips was born on 24 August 1855.² He was the son of Philip Saunders Phillips.³ He married Dorothea Sarah Florence Alexandra Ortlepp, daughter of Albert Frederick Ortlepp, on 22 August 1885.² He died on 2 July 1936 at age 80.²
