     Sir Sidney Barton was born on 26 November 1876.¹ He was the son of Captain James Barton and Mary Barbara Barclay.¹ He married Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen, daughter of Alexander Palmer MacEwen, on 23 July 1904.¹ He died on 20 January 1946 at age 69.¹
     Sir Sidney Barton was educated at St. Paul's School.¹ He entered HM Consular Service in 1895 at China.¹ He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1910 entitled to practice as a Barrister-at-law.¹ He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1913.¹ He was the Consul-General between 1922 and 1929 at Shanghai, China.¹ He was the Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary between 1929 and 1937 to Ethiopia, (Ethiopia).¹ He was invested as a Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1930.¹ He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1936.¹

     Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen was the daughter of Alexander Palmer MacEwen.¹ She married Sir Sidney Barton, son of Captain James Barton and Mary Barbara Barclay, on 23 July 1904.¹ She died in April 1945.¹
     From 23 July 1904, her married name became Barton.¹ She was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1937.¹

     James Alexander Barclay Barton was born on 28 December 1905.¹ He was the son of Sir Sidney Barton and Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen.¹ He married Margaret Alden Hartigan, daughter of Rear Admiral Charles Conway Hartigan, on 4 October 1933.¹ He died on 3 October 1940 at age 34.¹
     James Alexander Barclay Barton was educated at Malvern College, Malvern, Worcestershire, England.¹ He graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1926 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).¹

     Margaret Alden Hartigan is the daughter of Rear Admiral Charles Conway Hartigan.¹ She married James Alexander Barclay Barton, son of Sir Sidney Barton and Mary Ethel Winifred MacEwen, on 4 October 1933.¹
     From 4 October 1933, her married name became Barton.¹ As of 1976, Margaret Alden Hartigan lived at 1063 Thomas Jefferson Street, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.¹
