Captain Bertram James Richardson Barton was born on 23 February 1891.1 He was the son of Captain Charles Robert Barton and Henrietta Martha Mervyn Richardson.1 He married Anne Vaughan Hart, daughter of George Vaughan Hart, on 14 May 1952.1 He died on 19 February 1960 at age 68.1
He was educated at Warwick School, Warwick, Warwickshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, as a Lieutenant with the Royal Field Artillery.1 He was a member of the State and Exeuctive Council between 1934 and 1940 at Jahore, Malaysia.1 He fought in the Second World War, as a Captain with the Home Guard.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1944.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) in 1945.1 He held the office of High Sheriff for County Fermanagh in 1946.1
