     John Hugh Dalrymple-Hay was born on 16 December 1929.1 He is the son of Colonel Brian George Rowland Dalrymple-Hay and Beatrice Inglis.2 He married Jennifer Phyllis Roberta Johnston, daughter of Brigadier Robert Johnston, on 6 October 1962.1
     John Hugh Dalrymple-Hay was educated at Blundell's School, Tiverton, Devon, England.1 He fought in the Korean War, with 1st Battalion, King's Own Scottish Borderers, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Scots Fusiliers.1 He lived in 2003 at Little Meadow, Forty Green Road, Knotty Green, Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, England.1
