     Maj.-Gen. St. John Desmond Arcedeckne-Butler was born on 30 November 1896.1 He was the son of St. John Henry Arcedeckne-Butler and Maud Geraldine Money.1 He married Ethel Helen Nesbit Walker, daughter of Colonel Reginald Selby Walker, on 15 July 1929.1 He died on 4 February 1959 at age 62.1
     Maj.-Gen. St. John Desmond Arcedeckne-Butler fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Munster Fusiliers.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major-General in the service of the Royal Signals.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1946.1
