     Lt.-Col. William Desmond Blacker was born on 20 September 1903.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Stewart Ward William Blacker and Eva Mary Lucy St. John FitzRoy.1 He died on 11 July 1944 at age 40 at Normandy, France, killed in action. Unmarried.1
     Lt.-Col. William Desmond Blacker was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, as a Lieutenant-Colonel of the Royal Artillery.1 He was invested as a Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1941.1 He lived at Carrickblacker, Drumaconwey, County Armagh, Ireland.1

     Betty Mary Blacker was born on 20 December 1905.1 She is the daughter of Lt.-Col. Stewart Ward William Blacker and Eva Mary Lucy St. John FitzRoy.1 She married Rear-Adm. George Arthur Thring on 17 July 1929, they had two sons and two daughters.1
     From 17 July 1929, her married name became Thring.1 She held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) in 1942.1 She held the office of County Councillor between 1946 and 1949.1
