     Sir Alfred Leicester St. Barbe Harmsworth, 2nd Bt. was educated at Westminster College, Westminster, London, England.¹ He was educated at Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.¹ He fought in the First World War, where he was wounded.¹ He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 8th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment.¹ He was chairman of Retford and Gainsborough Times Company.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Harmsworth, of Moray Lodge, Kensington [U.K., 1918] on 19 January 1937.¹
