Hugh Arthur Willoughby Cole-Hamilton was born on 10 October 1887.1 He was the son of John Isaac Cole-Hamilton and Elinor Bourne Royds.1 He married Eileen Mary Atkinson, daughter of Reverend Precentor Charles Vereker Chester Atkinson, on 27 September 1932.1 He died on 7 July 1947 at age 59, without issue.1
     Lt.-Col. Hugh Arthur Willoughby Cole-Hamilton fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, where he was mentioned in despatches three times, was wounded and became a POW in 1918.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1919.1 He fought in the Second World War, when he was invalided.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 2nd Battalion, Yorkshire and Lancashire Regiment.1
