     Edward Waller Stoney was born on 10 February 1844.1 He was the son of Thomas George Stoney and Anna Henrietta Waller.1 He married Sarah Crawford, daughter of John Crawford, on 7 July 1875.1 He died on 4 October 1931 at age 87.1
     Edward Waller Stoney graduated from Queen's University, Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland, with a Master of Engineering (M.E.).1 He was Chief Engineer for the Madras Railway.1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Civil Engineers (M.Inst.C.E.).1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1904.1
