     Colonel William Grenville Irvine-Fortescue was born on 26 May 1897.1 He was the son of William Archer Irvine-Fortescue and Edith Virginia Duguid.2 He married, firstly, Joan Evelyn Mary Powell, daughter of Henry Sydney Powell, on 9 August 1921.1 He and Joan Evelyn Mary Powell were divorced in 1929.1 He married, secondly, Kathleen Sheila Bennett-Jones, daughter of William James Bennett-Jones, on 28 August 1941.3 He died in 1980.3
     Colonel William Grenville Irvine-Fortescue fought in the First World War between 1915 and 1918.1 He was decorated with the Military Cross (M.C.) (and bar (1919)) in 1916.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Royal Engineers.1
