     John Arnold Swinnerton Dyer was born on 24 January 1905.1 He was the son of Thomas Henry Dyer and Kate Willis.2 He married, firstly, Theresa Sylvester Stannard Stannard, daughter of Henry Sylvester Stannard, on 31 May 1930.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Mahala Johnson, daughter of Edward Valentine Johnson, on 23 June 1949.1 He died in 1971.1
     John Arnold Swinnerton Dyer fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Sergeant in the service of the Royal Artillery.1
