Sir William Ivan Cecil Ewart, 6th Bt. was born on 18 July 1919.1 He was the son of Major William Basil Ewart and Rébé Annette Grindle.2 He married Pauline Chevallier Preston, daughter of W/Cdr. Raphael Chevallier Preston, on 21 July 1948.1 He died on 20 November 1995 at age 76.1
Sir William Ivan Cecil Ewart, 6th Bt. was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England.3 He fought in the Second World War, where he became a POW.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve Coastal Forces.1 He was Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1945.1 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Ewart, of Glenmachan, co. Down [U.K., 1887] on 23 October 1959.1 He was chairman of William Ewart & Sons between 1968 and 1973.3 He was chairman of Ewart Northern Ltd between 1973 and 1977 at Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland.3 He was High Sheriff County Antrim in 1976.1
