     Sir William Ivan Cecil Ewart, 6th Bt. was born on 18 July 1919.¹ He was the son of Major William Basil Ewart and Rébé Annette Grindle.² He married Pauline Chevallier Preston, daughter of W/Cdr. Raphael Chevallier Preston, on 21 July 1948.¹ He died on 20 November 1995 at age 76.¹
     Sir William Ivan Cecil Ewart, 6th Bt. was educated at Radley College, Abingdon, Oxfordshire, England.³ He fought in the Second World War, where he became a POW.³ He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve Coastal Forces.¹ He was Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1945.¹ He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Ewart, of Glenmachan, co. Down [U.K., 1887] on 23 October 1959.¹ He was chairman of William Ewart & Sons between 1968 and 1973.³ He was chairman of Ewart Northern Ltd between 1973 and 1977 at Belfast, County Antrim, Ireland.³ He was High Sheriff County Antrim in 1976.¹

     
     W/Cdr. Raphael Chevallier Preston was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).¹ He lived at Derry Hill, Ballydugan, Downpatrick, County Down, Ireland.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).¹ He was decorated with the award of Air Force Cross (A.F.C.).¹

     Pauline Chevallier Preston was the daughter of W/Cdr. Raphael Chevallier Preston.² She married Sir William Ivan Cecil Ewart, 6th Bt., son of Major William Basil Ewart and Rébé Annette Grindle, on 21 July 1948.¹ She died on 5 September 1964.¹
