     Giles Milner Gilbey was born on 12 October 1923.1 He was the son of Sebastian Walter Gilbey and Jean Agnew Milner.2 He married Diana Mary Melville-Cook, daughter of W. E. Melville-Cook, on 1 October 1962.1 He died on 13 December 1983 at age 60.1
     Giles Milner Gilbey fought in the Second World War.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 12th Royal Lancers.1 He was decorated with the award of Military Cross (M.C.) in 1945.1
