     Herbert William Haldane was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.1 He was registered as a Chartered Accountant (C.A.).1 He was director of the Royal Bank of Scotland.1

     James Haldane was born on 14 May 1903.3 He was the son of Herbert William Haldane and Helen Rachel Alston.2 He married Joanna Margaret Thorburn, daughter of Lt.-Col. William Thorburn of Craigerne, on 3 October 1939.3 He died in 1990.3
     James Haldane was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He graduated from Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was registered as a Chartered Accountant (C.A.) in 1929.3 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Artillery.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1940 and 1945.3 He lived at The Old Schoolhouse, Gleneagles, Auchterarder, Perthshire, Scotland.3
