Rear-Admiral Sir Percy Moreton Scott, 1st Bt. was born on 10 July 1853.1 He was the son of Montagu Scott.2 He married, firstly, Teresa Roma Dixon-Hartland, daughter of Sir Frederick Dixon-Hartland, 1st and last Bt., on 10 January 1893.1 He and Teresa Roma Dixon-Hartland were divorced in 1911.1 He married, secondly, Fanny Vaughan Johnston Dennis, daughter of Thomas Ramsay Dennis, on 23 March 1914.1 He died on 18 October 1924 at age 71.1
Rear-Admiral Sir Percy Moreton Scott, 1st Bt. was commissioned in 1866, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was educated at University College London, London, Middlesex, England.1 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Greenwich, London, England.1 He fought in the Ashanti War between 1873 and 1877, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the Congo Expedition in 1875, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the Egyptian Campaign in 1882, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1895.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1900.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1900.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He was invested as a Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1902.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1906.1 He was decorated with the award of Knight Commander, Order of St. Olav of Norway.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1910.1 He was decorated with the award of Order of the Medjidie (3rd Class).1 He was created 1st Baronet Scott, of Witley, Surrey [U.K.] on 3 February 1913.1 He invented signalling lamps, targets and other gunnery appliances, also gun carriages used in the Chinese Expedition and the Boer War as well as the technique called ‘director firing.1'
