     Lieutenant Robert Hamond Elwes was born in 1856.1 He was the son of Robert Elwes and Mary Frances Lucas.1 He died on 27 January 1881 at Laing's Nek, South Africa, killed in action.1
     Lieutenant Robert Hamond Elwes gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to Sir George Pomeroy Colley.1 He fought in the First Boer War in 1881.1

     Captain John Henry Elwes was born on 14 July 1906.1 He was the son of Arthur Henry Stuart Elwes and Millicent Ella Honora Chapman.1 He married Pamela Cathleen Brinton, daughter of Lt.-Col. John Chaytor Brinton, on 15 February 1938.1 He died on 28 May 1940 at age 33 at France, killed in action.1
