     Edward Crofton was born on 6 June 1832.1 He was the son of Reverend Augustus Crofton and Charlotte Kirwan.2 He married Sarah Tanner, daughter of William Tanner, on 10 August 1859.1 He died on 12 March 1900 at age 67, without issue.1
     Edward Crofton graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was a practising barrister.1
