     Katharina Freiin Mayr von Melnhof-Saurau was born on 19 March 1974 at Vienna, Austria.1 She is the daughter of Franz Freiherr Mayr von Melnhof-Saurau and Erzsébet Grófnö Andrássy de Csíkszentkirály et Krasznahorka.1 She married Stephan Georg Prinz von Altenburg, son of Georg Adam Prinz von Altenburg and Maria Roswitha Wickl, on 6 May 2000 in a civil marriage.1 Katharina and Stephan Georg were remarried in a religious ceremony on 24 June 2000 at Frohnleiten, Steiermark, Austria.1
     From 6 May 2000, her married name became von Altenburg.1
