     Rev. Canon Philip John Cocks was born on 31 October 1866.1 He was the son of Reverend Henry Bromley Cocks and Harriet Elizabeth Wodehouse.2 He married Mary Hannah Gebbie, daughter of John Gebbie, in 1895.1 He died on 23 October 1938 at age 71.1
     He was the Rector at Clovelly, Devon, EnglandG.1 He was the Rector at Waimate, New ZealandG.1 He held the office of Canon of Christchurch.1

     Mary Hannah Gebbie was the daughter of John Gebbie.2 She married Rev. Canon Philip John Cocks, son of Reverend Henry Bromley Cocks and Harriet Elizabeth Wodehouse, in 1895.1 She died on 5 September 1951.1
     From 1895, her married name became Cocks.

     He fought in the First World War, with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force.1
