     Hon. Islwyn Edmund Evan Davies was born on 10 December 1926.¹ He was the son of David Davies, 1st Baron Davies and Henrietta Margaret Fergusson.² He married Camilla Anne Coulden, daughter of Colonel Lawrence William Coulden, on 15 December 1959.¹ He died on 5 October 2002 at age 75.¹
     He was educated at Gordonstoun School, Elgin, Morayshire, Scotland^G.¹ He gained the rank of officer in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.¹ He was educated at Upper Canada College, Toronto, Ontario, Canada^G.¹ He fought in the Second World War.¹ He was educated at Harper Adams Agricultural College, Edgmond, Newport, Shropshire, England^G.¹ He was Master of the Foxhounds, David Davies between 1947 and 1976.¹ He was founder of Cambrian Land Ltd (3,000acre mixed farming enterprise.)¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Univeristy of Wales, Wales^G, in 1978.¹ He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1986.¹ He was chairman of the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society (Gold Medallist ), Montgomeryshire CLA and Gwendoline and Margaret Davies Charity (fnded by his aunts) in 1987.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Montgomeryshire.¹ He was appointed Fellow, Royal Agricultural Society (F.R.Ag.S.)¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Powys before 2001.¹
