He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Irish Hussars.1 He was educated at Pembroke College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG. He gained the rank of Major in the Cheshire Yeomanry (Territorial Army).1 He was a practising barrister-at-law.
