     Lt.-Col. Granville Charles FitzHerbert Harcourt Vernon was born on 30 May 1891.1 He was the son of Edward Evelyn Harcourt Vernon and Frances Theresa FitzHerbert.1 He married Celine van Hecke, daughter of M. van Hecke, on 17 October 1925.1 He died on 21 February 1974 at age 82, without issue.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in dispatches and was wounded three times.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1919.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Nottinghamshire in 1932.1 He was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Brecon in 1939.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Grenadier Guards.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.1
