Colonel John Frederick Carroll was educated at The Oratory, London, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Royal Norfolk Regiment.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1943.1

Lt.-Col. Donough Carroll was born on 15 July 1907.1 He was the son of Brig.-Gen. John William Vincent Carroll and Barbara Mary Woodroffe.2 He married Elizabeth Rosamund Harrison, daughter of Colonel Lawrence Whitaker Harrison, on 17 June 1936.1 He died on 21 March 1974 at age 66,.1
