Herbert William Studd was born on 26 December 1870.2 He was the son of Edward Studd and Dorothy Sophia Thomas.3 He married Mary de Vere, daughter of Major Francis Horatio de Vere and Anne Celestine Burke, on 19 April 1894.1 He married Alice Maud Tullis on 20 December 1930.2 He died on 8 August 1947 at age 76.1
