     Lt.-Cdr. James Philip de Havilland Saumarez was born on 6 June 1937.1 He is the son of Captain Philip Lionel Saumarez and Elizabeth Patricia O'Connor.2 He married, firstly, Teresa Mary Edwards, daughter of Wallace Grant Edwards, on 24 April 1965.1 He and Teresa Mary Edwards were divorced in 1986.1 He married, secondly, Carol Jane Aspinwall, daughter of Robert Ashton Aspinwall, on 1 October 1988.3
     Lt.-Cdr. James Philip de Havilland Saumarez was Communications Officer in 1964.1 He retired from the military in 1968, with the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, late of the Royal Navy.3 He lived in 2003 at Olive Farm, Orchard Hill, Devon, England.1
