Richard Welsted Croker1

     Richard Welsted Croker was born on 23 November 1841 at Clonakilty, County Cork, IrelandG.1 He was the son of Eyre Coote Croker and Frances Welsted.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Fraser, daughter of Samuel Fraser, in November 1873.1 He married, secondly, Bula Perton Edmondson in 1914.1 He died on 29 April 1922 at age 80.1
     Richard Welsted Croker also went by the nick-name of 'Boss' Croker.1 He was educated at U.S.A.G.1 He held the office of Alderman of New York between 1868 and 1870.1 He was Coroner in 1873.1 He was Leader of Tammany Hall between 1884 and 1903, and was notorious as one of its 'Bosses'.1 He was New York City Chamberlain between 1889 and 1890.1 He lived at The Wigwam, Palm Beach, Florida, U.S.A.G.1 He was owner of racehorses, and winner of Derby, Irish Derby, Curragh and Baldoyle Derby with Orby (1907) and the English Guineas with Rhodora (Orby's half-sister) in 1908.1 He lived at Glencairn, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1
