     Lt.-Col. Sir Hugh Daly was born, on 29 May 1860.1 He was the son of General Sir Henry Dermot Daly and Susan Elizabeth Ellen Kirkpatrick.2,1 He married Diana Maria Denison, daughter of Charles Denison, on 16 July 1891.1 He died on 25 August 1939 at age 79.1
     Lt.-Col. Sir Hugh Daly was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.1 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was commissioned in 1881, in the service of the Gloucestershire Regiment.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1883 in the service of the Indian Army.1 He fought in the Burma Expedition between 1886 and 1887, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was Superintendent of North Shan States between 1888 and 1891.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1892.1 He was Assistant Secretary, Foreign Department between 1892 and 1896.1 He was Deputy Secretary, Foreign Department between 1896 and 1903.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Indiann Army.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Star of India (C.S.I.) in 1903.1 He was Agent to the Governor-General in Central India between 1905 and 1910.1 He wrote the book a biography of his father.1 He was Resident of Mysore and Chief Commissioner of Coorg between 1910 and 1916.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Indian Empire (K.C.I.E.) in 1911.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the Star of India (K.C.S.I.) in 1916.1 He lived at Buckland Grange, Isle of Wight, England.1

     Diana Maria Denison was the daughter of Charles Denison.2 She married Lt.-Col. Sir Hugh Daly, son of General Sir Henry Dermot Daly and Susan Elizabeth Ellen Kirkpatrick, on 16 July 1891.1 She died on 10 August 1939.1
     From 16 July 1891, her married name became Daly.
