     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the Scinde Horse, Indian Army.1

     Malachy James Simonds Simonds was born in December 1921 at County Drogheda, Ireland.2 He was the son of Lt.-Col. James Napier Simonds and Mary Frances Daly.3 He died on 19 July 1944 at age 22, killed in action when his Lancaster disappeared over Normandy.1,4
     He fought in the Second World War, in the Royal Air Force.1 He gained the rank of Flight Sergeant in the 463 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.4
