     Very Rev. John Lionel Darby was born on 20 November 1831.1 He was the son of Reverend Christopher Lovett Darby and Mary Boyle.2 He married Cecilia Catherine Hopwood, daughter of Rev. Canon Frank George Hopwood and Lady Eleanor Mary Smith-Stanley, on 4 May 1871.1 He died on 5 November 1919 at age 87.1
     He was educated at St. Columba's College, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He graduated with a Doctor of Divinity (D.D.)1 He held the office of Dean of Chester.1

     Cecilia Catherine Hopwood was the daughter of Rev. Canon Frank George Hopwood and Lady Eleanor Mary Smith-Stanley.2 She married Very Rev. John Lionel Darby, son of Reverend Christopher Lovett Darby and Mary Boyle, on 4 May 1871.1 She died on 10 April 1921.1
     From 4 May 1871, her married name became Darby.

     He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Clare College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, in 1893 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)1 He was Senior Master between 1906 and 1935 at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve.1 He fought in the First World War.1
