     Alexander Findlater was born on 9 March 1797.1 He was the son of John Findlater and Janet Dempster.2 He died on 8 August 1873 at age 76, unmarried.1
      He was founder of various businesses, including Alexander Findlater & Company, Todd Burns & Company and Mackie, Todd & Company Ltd.1 In 1852 he built Findlater's Mountjoy Brewery.1 He was Director of the Royal Bank of Ireland between 1864 and 1871.1 He was a noted philanthropist.1 He lived at The Slopes, Monkstown, County Dublin, Ireland.1 He lived at Johnstown House, Chapelizod, County Dublin, Ireland.1

     John Findlater was born on 3 May 1802.1 He was the son of John Findlater and Janet Dempster.2 He married Mary Anne Hughes in May 1827.1 He died on 27 March 1836 at age 33, drowned in the shipwreck of brig James Laurie (which he commanded) off Nassau, Bahamas.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Merchant Navy.1
