Sir Courtenay Pole, 2nd Bt. was baptised on 17 February 1618/19.2 He was the son of Sir John Pole, 1st Bt. and Elizabeth How. He married Ureth Shapcote, daughter of Thomas Shapcote, before 1649.2 He died circa 10 April 1695.2 He was buried on 13 April 1695.2
He was educated at Lincolns Inn, London, England.2 He fought in the English Civil War, for the Royalists.2 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Pole, of Shute House, Devonshire [E., 1628] on 16 April 1658.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Honiton between 1661 and 1679.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of Devon in 1681/82.2

Sir John Pole, 1st Bt. was the son of Sir William Pole and Mary Periam. He married, firstly, Elizabeth How, daughter of Roger How, on 5 January 1613/14. They were cousins.1 He married, secondly, Mary (?).1 He died on 16 April 1658.1
