Robert Jack Dunlop was born on 8 April 1857.1 He was the son of Thomas Dunlop and Robina Jack.2 He married, firstly, Mary Louise Mackenzie, daughter of Alexander Mackenzie, on 21 September 1882.1 He married, secondly, Mary Hastie on 7 January 1930.1 He died on 11 September 1938 at age 81.1
Robert Jack Dunlop was decorated with the award of Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Officers' Decoration (V.D.).1 He was a partner of Thomas Dunlop and Sons, and president of the Chamber of Shipping.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1 He lived at Barskimming, Mauchline, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1
