     He was he was imprisoned in Edinburgh castle for preaching a sermon against the dissolute French residing at the Royal Court in 1580.1

     He held the office of Lord of Session.1 Andrew Durie also went by the nick-name of ‘Abbot Stottikin' (or in English, bullock), by John Knox.1 He held the office of Bishop of Galloway in 1541.1 He was Abbot of Melrose in 1541.1
