     Sir James William Scott, 1st Bt. was born on 23 June 1844.2 He was the son of John George Schott and Sarah Ann Kinder.2 He married Anne Jane Haslam, daughter of John Haslam, on 16 April 1874.2 He died on 4 August 1913 at age 69.2
     He was also known as James William Schott.2 He acquired control of his father-in-law's enterprises.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Westmorland and Lancashire.2 He was created 1st Baronet Scott, of Yews, Undermillbeck, co. Westmorland [U.K.] on 27 July 1909.2
