     Lt.-Cdr. Gerard Broadmead Roope, V.C. fought in the Second World War.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.2 He was decorated with the award of Victoria Cross (V.C.) (posthumously).2
