     Matthew Christopher Anthony Brett was born on 2 January 1963.1 He is the son of Christopher Lionel Baliol Brett, 5th Viscount Esher and Camilla Charlotte Rumbold.2 He married Hon. Emma Charlotte Denison-Pender, daughter of John Jocelyn Denison-Pender, 3rd Baron Pender, on 28 March 1992.1
     Matthew Christopher Anthony Brett was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He graduated from Exeter College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1987 entitled to practice as a barrister.1 He lived in 2003 at Shellingford House, Shellingford, Oxfordshire, England.1
