     Robert Gordon is the son of Patrick Gordon, 9th of Hallhead and Margaret Burnett.2 He married Isabella Byres, daughter of James Byres.1 He died on 7 September 1737.1
     In 1700 Baillie of Edinburgh, matric arms at LO.1 In 1726 Bordeaux wine merchant, where he prospered sufficiently to buy Hallhead from his brother Charles in and Esslemont in 1728 from James Gordon of Ellon (see BLG 1937).1

     Sir.1 He was Minister to Ratisbon , and in Ct of Holy Roman Emperor in Brussels 1765–77 in 1764.1 He was Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) (nominated in 1775.1 In 1779 installed ).1
