     Andrew Fairbairn was born on 10 February 1758 at Smailholme, Roxburghshire, ScotlandG.1 He was the son of John Fairbairn and Helen Anderson.2 He married Margaret Henderson on 12 December 1783.1 He died on 14 January 1844 at age 85.1
     He was an agricultural labourer and skilled ploughman.1 He fought in the American War of Independence, as a conscript.1 He was a tenant farmer of 300 acres.1
