Anthony Peter Clarke, Baron Clarke of Stone-cum-Ebony was born on 13 May 1943.2 He is the son of Harry Alston Clarke and Isobel Kay.3 He married Rosemary Adam, daughter of K. W. Adam, on 7 September 1968.3
He was educated at Oakham School, Rutland, England.2 He was educated at King's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was admitted to Middle Temple in 1965.2 He was invested as a Queen's Counsel (Q.C.) in 1979.2 He held the office of Recorder of the Crown Court between 1985 and 1992.3 He was invested as a Knight Bachelor (K.B.) in 1993.2 He held the office of Judge of the Admiralty Court between 1993 and 1998.2 He held the office of Judge of the High Court, Queen's Bench Division between 1993 and 1998.2 He was invested as a Privy Councillor (P.C.) in 1998.2 He held the office of Lord Justice of Appeal in 1998.2 He held the office of Master of the Rolls between 2005 and 2009.2 He was created Baron Clarke of Stone-cum-Ebony, co.
