     Rear-Admiral Michael Grant Goodenough was born on 18 June 1904.1 He was the son of Frederick Craufurd Goodenough and Maeve Macnamara.2 He married Nancy Slater, daughter of Sir Alexander Ransford Slater and Dora Waterfield Ward, on 14 November 1934 at Pembroke Church, BermudaG.1,3 He died on 31 December 1955 at age 51.1
     He was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1940.1 He was awarded the U.S. Bronze Star.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1946.1 He was awarded the Commander, Order of Orange-Nassau.1

     Sir Alexander Ransford Slater was born on 28 November 1874.2 He was the son of Reverend C. S. Slater.2 He married Dora Waterfield Ward, daughter of H. T. S. Ward, in 1906.2 He died on 23 April 1940 at age 65.2
     He was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, Warwickshire, EnglandG.2 He was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG.2 He was with the Ceylon Civil Service between 1898 and 1912.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1916.2 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1918.1 He held the office of Governor of Sierra Leone between 1922 and 1927.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1924.2 He held the office of Governor of the Gold Coast between 1927 and 1932.2 He held the office of Governor of Jamaica between 1932 and 1934.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of St. Michael and St. George (G.C.M.G.) in 1933.1

     From 14 November 1934, her married name became Goodenough.
