     David Hamilton is the son of Gavin Hamilton, 1st of Orbieston and Jean Hamilton.1
      He was ancestor of the Hamiltons of Bothwellhaugh who shot the Regent Moray in 1570.1 He lived at Bothwellhaugh, Scotland.1

      From 19 March 1732, her married name became Hamilton.

     General John Hamilton, 6th of Dalzell and 11th of Orbieston was born in 1742.1 He was the son of Archibald Hamilton, 4th of Dalzell and 9th of Orbieston and Marion Dalrymple.2 He married Anne Mathews, daughter of Dr. R. Mathews, in 1790.1 He died on 9 February 1834.1
     He was General.1 He was obliged to sell Orbieston and Rosehall after the failure of a commune there (known locally as ‘Babylon') run chiefly by his brother.1 He lived at Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1
