Herbert, in November 1832.¹ He married, secondly, Eliza Mary Norris, daughter of Reverend O. Norris, on 2 March 1852.³ He died on 3 January 1867 at age 57.³
     He gained the rank of Commander in the service of the U.S. Navy.¹ He gained the rank of Commander between 1861 and 1865 in the service of the Confederate States.¹

     He fought in the American Civil War.¹ He gained the rank of officer in the service of the Confederate States Army.¹

     Julian Fairfax was born on 14 December 1841.¹ He was the son of Archibald Blair Fairfax and Sarah Carlyle Herbert.² He died in January 1877 at age 35, unmarried.¹
     He graduated from University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia, U.S.A., with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He fought in the American Civil War.¹ He gained the rank of Midshipman between 1861 and 1865 in the service of the Confederate States Navy.¹
