     George Archibald, 1st Baron Archibald was born on 21 July 1898.1 He was the son of George W. Archibald.1 He married, firstly, Dorothy Holroyd Edwards, daughter of George Henry Edwards, in February 1926.1 He married, secondly, Catherine Edith Mary Law, daughter of Rt. Hon. Andrew Bonar Law and Annie Pitcairn Robley, on 15 November 1961.1 He died on 25 February 1975 at age 76.1
     George Archibald, 1st Baron Archibald was educated at St. George's Road Elementary School, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 He was educated at Allan Glen's High School, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 He was invested as a Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.).2 He was created 1st Baron Archibald, of Woodside, in the City of Glasgow [U.K.] on 12 July 1949.1
