Somerset Arthur Maxwell was born on 20 January 1905.1 He was the son of Arthur Kenlis Maxwell, 11th Baron Farnham and Aileen Selina Coote.1 He married Angela Susan Roberts, daughter of Captain Marshall Owen Roberts, on 15 October 1930.1 He died in December 1942 at age 37 at El Alamein, Egypt, from wounds received in action.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for King's Lynn between 1935 and 1942.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Middlesex Yeomanry (Royal Signals).1 He fought in the Second World War.1
