     George Matcham Tarleton was born in 1790 at Killeigh, County Offaly, IrelandG.1 He was the son of John Weldon Tarleton and Margaret Scott.1 He married Louisa Best, daughter of George Best and Caroline Scott, on 15 May 1819 at Westminster, London, EnglandG.1 He died on 12 May 1880 at Dawlish, Devon, EnglandG.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the 6th Foot Regiment.1

     Brigadier Gerald Weldon Browne Tarleton was born on 2 December 1893 at IndiaG.1,2 He was the son of William Henry Tarleton and Mary Ella Conroy.1 He married Violet Jessie Melrose, daughter of James Melrose, in 1926 at London, EnglandG.1 He died on 19 August 1955 at age 61 at Claro, Yorkshire, EnglandG.1
     He was educated at Stonyhurst College, Blackburn, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1915 and bar (1918.)1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1937 in the Border Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1940.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1943.1 He was awarded the Bronze Star U.S.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1945.1
