     On 1 January 1915 he was rescued from the sinking of H.M.S. Formidable.³ He gained the rank of Commander in the Royal Navy.¹

     Major Abraham Rupert Neelands was born on 26 August 1881 at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.² He was the son of James Adam Neelands and Jane Oliphant Butchart.² He married Kathleen Victoria Agnew, daughter of Alexander Agnew and Rosina Mary Hunter, in 1919 at Hendon, London, England.² He died on 19 October 1971 at age 90.²

     From 28 March 1912, her married name became Simonds.¹ After her marriage, Mary Hope Mellor was styled as Baroness Simonds on 18 April 1944. After her marriage, Mary Hope Mellor was styled as Viscountess Simonds on 18 October 1954.
