     She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1 She graduated in 1914 with a Bachelor of Surgery (Ch.B.)1 From 7 September 1916, her married name became Stopford.1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) by Manchester University, Manchester, Lancashire, EnglandG, in 1957.1 After her marriage, Lily Allan was styled as Baroness Stopford of Fallowfield on 5 August 1958.

     Hon. Thomas Stopford was born on 28 June 1921.1 He was the son of John Sebastian Bach Stopford, Baron Stopford of Fallowfield and Lily Allan.1 He married Mary Howard Small, daughter of Alfred James Small, on 6 July 1943.1 He died in May 2003 at age 81 at Colwyn, Clwyd, Wales.2
     He was educated at Manchester Grammar School, Manchester, Lancashire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Royal Artillery.1
