     Clement Arthur Vansittart was born on 3 November 1849.1 He was the son of Reverend Charles Vansittart and Frances Rosalie Busk.1 He married Marguerite Hopkins, daughter of John M. Hopkins.1 He died on 22 February 1930 at age 80.1
     He gained the rank of officer between 1866 and 1870 in the Pontifical Zouaves.1
