Frances Maria Stephens was the daughter of General Edward Stephens.1 She married Field Marshal Hugh Gough, 1st Viscount Gough of Goojerat, son of Lt.-Col. George Gough and Letitia Bunbury, on 3 June 1807.1 She died on 15 March 1863.1
From 3 June 1807, her married name became Gough.1 As a result of her marriage, Frances Maria Stephens was styled as Baroness Gough of Chinkangfoo on 25 April 1846. As a result of her marriage, Frances Maria Stephens was styled as Viscountess Gough of Goojerat on 15 June 1849.
